The provincial nominee applicants with technical skills were invited to apply for permanent residence by British Columbia province. The invitations to apply for a provincial nomination were issued to the candidates in foreign tech workers and international students. These invitations were issued through the British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program. British Columbia holds the Tech Pilot draws weekly. In this weekly draw, the candidates with valid job offers were invited to apply for provincial nomination.
The purpose of the British Columbia Tech Pilot is to recruit the IT workers in the B.C tech industry. This program also helps in filling the labour shortage in the province. The 72 invitations were issued under the Tech Pilot Program. This draw was held on August 25, 2020. The invitations were issued to the candidates in Skilled Worker and International Graduate Categories in Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration streams. The minimum score to apply for these categories was 80.
Eligibility:
The candidates must be registered in the British Columbia’s existing Provincial Immigration stream. The candidates must have a valid job offer in the Tech Pilot’s eligible occupations. The candidates must create a profile through the BC PNP online registration portal, and they need to register under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The applicants are assessed on the factors of age, education, work experience, and proficiency in English. After approval, the candidates can apply for Permanent residence.
The Express Entry candidates who receive British Columbia Provincial Nomination will be given additional 600 points in their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. With these additional 600 scores, this can also assure an invitation to apply.
In August, British Columbia has held four draws. In these draws, 863 candidates have been invited to apply for provincial nomination.
