The Sweden Migration Agency issued a residence permit to those students who have completed their half of the course which is conducted on campus.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, the question arises is that, how will the academic year start? There is an uncertainty that how the universities will organize learning this year. The government has issued orders to follow the remote teaching method. Whereas, the Swedish Migration Agency has said that the residence permit will only be granted if the students have completed their half of education on campus.
Whereas, no one can still predict the COVID-19 upcoming situation. Some news and theories also suggest that there might be an upcoming second wave of this virus. If it could be, then the universities will still not be able to teach on campus.
At the start of this virus, all the universities started hybrid courses, and they went to online learning techniques and methodologies. Sweden has observed a 12% increase in the international student’s intake this year. This year proved to be a positive year for the Swedish Universities, as the intake was increased. But, the pandemic was not expected. This pandemic did cast many changes to the world’s education and economic patterns.
There is still a possibility that the campuses will not be open from autumn to spring. If this situation is continued, then there might be some changes expected in the study visa policies for international students.
The international students who are studying in Sweden, and their study visas are expired, they are provided grants in the extension of their visa. Those students can wait as long as their application is processed. The grants are provided by the migration agency of Sweden.
Till now, the situation of the world is under control now. Many countries are observing a decline in the COVID-19 cases if the same situation continues, then by following the standardized precautions, the university campuses can be opened, and the students will be able to pursue their courses and educational degrees as normal.
