On January 21, 2021, Saskatchewan has held its provincial nomination draw.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited candidates from the following categories:
- International Skilled Worker
- Express Entry
- Occupations In-Demand
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) allows the province to nominate immigration candidates with specific skills in the labour market.
A total of 502 immigration candidates were invited who had work experience in the selected occupations. Around 189 candidates were invited from the Express Entry, and 313 invitations were sent to the candidates from the Occupations In-Demand category. The province has invited candidates who had work experience in the list from 79 occupations.
The requirement of Expression of Interest
The candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile along with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The SINP uses an Expression of Interest system to invite the immigrants to apply for the provincial nomination. The concerned candidates are required to create an EOI profile. In this, they have to prove their intent to live and settle in Saskatchewan. They also have to demonstrate their work experience, age, education, language proficiency, and their ties in the province. By assessing the following factors, the SINP designates the candidates with a score out of 100 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessments Grid.
The candidates who have the highest scores in the grid, are issued an invitation in which they have to apply for the provincial nomination in the province to get Canadian permanent residence. In this draw, the minimum required score was 77, under the SINP. The candidates were not required to have a job offer, but they were required to have at least one year of skilled work experience.
Express Entry sub-category
In this invitation phase, Saskatchewan issued invitations to the 189 candidates. Those applicants had profiles in the federal Express Entry pool. Saskatchewan’s Express Entry is linked with the federal Express Entry portal. This federal Express Entry system manages the three main immigration categories. Those categories are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class
- Federal Skilled Trades Class
- Canadian Experience Class
The Express Entry candidates who file for the provincial nomination, and if they receive a provincial nomination they are awarded additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If they get this, they are guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
Occupations In-Demand sub-category
Those immigration candidates who do not have a profile in the federal Express Entry system, can apply in the Occupations IN-Demand subcategory, this category is open for them. A total of 313 candidates of the Occupations In-Demand category were invited to apply for the provincial nomination.
