The Quebec Government has released the details of the three immigration programs for permanent residence. These immigration pilots are aimed to fill up the labor shortages in the country. The Quebec government has released the details of the three programs for permanent residence that will be regulated in early 2021.
In the next 45 days, the government will be collecting some general responses before launching the programs. These immigration programs have been already announced by the government, and the programs are the following:
- Pilot program for orderlies
- Pilot program for workers in the artificial intelligence (AI), information technologies (IT), and visual effects sectors
- Pilot program for workers in food processing (FP)
New pilot programs:
By launching these three immigration programs, the Quebec government aims to fill the labor shortage in the province. The people with a specific skill set in the related sectors will be invited to fill the labor shortage in the specific sectors. These pilots will be launched after the consultation of the 45 days.
- Pilot program for orderlies:
The pilot program for the orderlies will allow up to 550 applicants per year. The applicants in this pilot will be selected to work as nurse aides and beneficiary attendants in Quebec.
- Pilot program for workers in food processing:
This pilot is for the workers in food processing. It will allow the workers in the related sector a path to permanent immigration for temporary foreign workers working in the food processing sector. This will be a five-year program, and under this program, 550 eligible workers and their family members will be invited to Canada each year.
- Pilot program for IT workers:
This pilot program will target the immigrants from the artificial intelligence, information technology, and visual effects sector. This pilot will also be a five-year program, and it will invite 550 immigrants with their family members.
The purpose of these immigration programs is to attract talented persons to work in the tech sector, the food sector, and the medical sector of Quebec.
Application processing time:
The Quebec government has released information regarding the number of applications that will be accepted under these economic immigration classes. The projections are:
- About 50 permanent selection applications have been set for the Self-Employed Program from November 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021.
- 25 permanent selection applications will be made for the first pathway of the Entrepreneur Program from November 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021.
Selection criteria for previous candidates:
The selection criteria for the previous immigration candidates who have submitted their Expression of Interest (EOI), in the province’s application management system for the Regular Skilled Worker Program, have been also renewed, and the changes are in effect until November 1, 2020.
