The Prince Edward Island has held the new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, and as a result of it, 254 new immigration candidates have been invited to apply for provincial nomination. This draw was held on November 19, 2020.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) distributed 254 invitations to the applicants. The majority of the invitations were issued to the candidates from the Express Entry and Labour Impact category. The 221 invitations were issued to the candidates from the above categories. The remaining 33 invitations were issued to the Business Impact candidates. So, out of a total of 254 invitations, 221 invitations were for Express Entry candidates and 33 invitations were for Business Impact candidates.
Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are primarily designed for the Canadian provinces, so that they can invite the immigration candidates to their territories/provinces, in order to fill the labor shortage and to support the economy.
PEI Express Entry Category
The Prince Edward Island PNP’s Express Entry Category is an improved stream of Provincial Nominee Program, this works under the Canadian government’s Express Entry system.
The federal Express Entry system manages the three main immigration categories. Those categories are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class
- Federal Skilled Trades Class
- Canadian Experience Class
The Express Entry candidates who file for the provincial nomination, and if they receive a provincial nomination they are awarded additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If they get this, they are guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
For the consideration from the PEI provincial nomination, the Express Entry candidates are required to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. These EOI profiles are ranked according to the scores of the candidates. These scores are based on various assessment factors that are Language proficiency, education, and work experience etc.
Labour Impact Category
The Labour Impact Category is reserved for foreign nationals who possess a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island, and they also have support from the employer in PEI. The Labour Impact category is divided into the following three streams:
- Skilled Worker
- Critical Worker
- International Graduate
The applications in this category are required to submit an EOI profile for the consideration of provincial nomination through the Labour Impact Category.
Business Impact Category
The minimum EOI score for the invited Business Impact category candidates was 92. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream. This stream is for the foreign entrepreneurs who have an intention to start a business in the province.
