In 2020, Ontario issued more than 8,000 nominations to the immigration candidates, more than the actual spots reserved.
The federal government had allocated 7,600 provincial nominations under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), it was out of the 61,000 nominations that were expected to be accommodated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) this year.
However, Ontario finished this year with 8,050 successful cases for all the streams. It also included the 400 additional nominations, and 50 more intermediate skilled occupations, or NOC skill level C.
Ontario’s allocation for the next year is not available till now. However, it is anticipated that in the coming years 80,800 immigrants will be brought into the country.
Ontario usually holds its last draws at the end of the year, on December 15. The OINP held a Tech Draw, and it also issued 668 invitations to the Express Entry candidates.
Ontario will launch the EOI system in 2021
The Immigration categories that Ontario will consider to develop an EOI system for include:

(Foreign Worker; International Student, and In-Demand Skills streams)

The new system will allow the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program to hold the general purpose and targeted draw according to their needs and requirements. This procedure is done through the Human Capital Priorities Stream.
Ontario is expected to launch the new system in early 2021.
