In the first draw of Ontario of this year, the province has issued invitations to 484 Express Entry candidates under the two provincial immigration streams.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates in the following streams:
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker
- Skilled Trades
The above two Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are attached with the Express Entry system. Those candidates who received an NOI in this draw had to create their Express Entry profiles between January 13, 2020, and January 13, 2021.
The Skilled Trades Stream helps the OINP in the search of those Express Entry candidates who are currently living in Ontario, and they have a minimum of one-year full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time job, in a skilled trade listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82. The occupations must come under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC).
338 Skilled Trades Stream candidates received NOIs in this draw. The invited candidates had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 434 and 460.
The French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream is designed for those Express Entry candidates who are proficient in English and French.
The applicants are required to meet the eligibility criteria for the Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Whereas, these two immigration programs have different eligibility criteria.
The candidates in this stream were required to have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least 7 in French, and at least a CLB 6 in English.
There were 146 candidates in the FSSW, and those candidates had a CRS score between 456 and 460.
In both of the streams, the candidates are not required to have a job offer. The candidates only need to meet the mandatory federal and provincial requirements that are set by OINP.
The candidates who are successful in obtaining a nomination under these two streams, will receive an additional 600 CRS points. These points will ensure an ITA for Canadian permanent residence.
The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you want to get a nomination from these two streams, then you will have to create an Express Entry profile.
