North Bay introduces RNIP immigration stream

An additional Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) stream was opened for the immigrants on October 21, 2020. North Bay, is in the 11th community of Ontario, which has now introduced the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) program. On the other hand, 12 communities are already participating in this pilot. Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is the only community that has not entered the RNIP program.

 

The North Bay is a city that has a population of more than 50,000 people. It usually takes around 3 hours to reach North Bay, after a drive-in north of Toronto. This city generates its capital by health, mining, education and tourism sector.

 

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot:

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a new stream launched by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The purpose of IRCC to launch this program is to attract the immigrants to these communities so that the new immigrants can contribute to the revenue of these areas. The eligibility criteria for the program is:

  • The candidates must possess at least 1 year of work experience in the previous three years, whereas this condition does not apply to some international students and graduates
  • Minimum levels of proficiency in English or French
  • A high school diploma
  • Enough funds to support themselves
  • Enough funds to support their family members
  • A full-time, permanent job offer from the community
  • The job offer should match the same skill level in the National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • The job should match the candidate’s previous work experience

How to get a recommendation from the community?

To get a recommendation from the community, one must: 

  • The previous living experience in the rural and northern communities

  • Family ties or friendship ties with a person living in the community

  • A person who has already lived in this community, he/she will be awarded additional points

  • A prior educational experience in the community

  • An occupation that is in demand in the community
