In the latest draw held, Canada has issued 4,200 ITA’s to the candidates under the Express Entry candidates. Canada has held 2nd all programs draw in two weeks. This was the 163rd Express Entry draw in Canada, and as a result of this draw, the candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence on September 16, 2020.
The latest Express Entry round has issued the invitations to those candidates, who had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 472. Whereas, in the previous immigration round the CRS score was three points greater than this latest draw.
A total of 4,200 invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence were issued in this latest draw. This draw pattern is being similar to the patterns before the Covid-19 pandemic situation, as the draws used to be held every two weeks. In the draw held on September 2, there were also 4,200 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued, which was termed as the second biggest draw. Previously, the biggest draw was held on February 19, in which 4,500 ITAs were issued. The greater number of invitations in these draws hints at Canada’s plan to accommodate more immigrants this year and in the coming years. Canada is trying to reach its immigration plan.
The Express Entry system is responsible for managing the applications for the three main immigration streams of Canada. These three immigration streams are also termed as the main economic immigration streams of Canada. Those streams are:
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The candidates with the highest ranking points in the Express Entry Pool are issued ITA’s for Canadian permanent residents. The invitations round usually take place every two weeks. Most of the immigrants are from the three main economic classes of immigration.
After this draw, the total number of ITA’s has increased to 74,150.
IRCC has also used the tie-break rule in this draw. The timestamp used for this tie-break was of March 9, 2020, at 13:03:40 UTC. The candidates with a score of 472, and having a scored above 472 who entered this pool before the selected time and date were issued ITA’s.
The purpose of the tie-break rule is to rank the candidates having the same CRS score, and the CRS score of a candidate is the major factor that is used for the selection of the candidates.
The eligible candidates for every program are issued scores under the Express Entry pool. The candidates are awarded points on human capital characteristics such as language proficiency in English or French, skilled work experience, education, and age. The job offer is not mandatory to be eligible for the Express Entry candidates, but, those candidates who have a valid job offer are awarded additional points.
Many candidates ask about the processing time for the permanent residence applications, the Canadian government has specified the standard time for processing. Usually, it takes around 6 months for processing of the application.
