Manitoba PNP: 296 new invitations

On February 12, 2021, Manitoba held its PNP draw, and as a result, Manitoba has invited 296 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

After this draw, the total number of invited candidates invited in 2021 has reached 786. Alone in this year, in these two months, the invited candidate number has reached 786.

This draw was counted as the third draw of this year. This 3rd draw was for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The Skilled workers and international graduates were invited under the following streams:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • International Education Stream
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

The score requirements for Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) and the Expression of Interest (EOI) were following:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 240 LAAs and a score of 514
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: 23 LAAs and a score of 676
  • International Education Stream: 33 LAAs no EOI score requirement

Whereas the 20 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAS) were sent to the Express Entry candidates.

Manitoba’s immigration streams

To facilitate the employers in Manitoba, the Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker streams allow the province to nominate the skilled workers, so they can support and fill the labour shortages in Manitoba.

The overseas applicants are required to establish a connection in the province. The close connections can be demonstrated through family ties, friends, prior work in the province, or by an invitation from MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. To be eligible, the candidates are not required to be physically present in the province. The successful candidates in the Skilled Workers category are required to have a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Manitoba. Whereas, the International students that have been graduated from an educational institute in Manitoba, might get a Letter of Advice to Apply under the International Education Stream.

Express Entry

Out of the total LAAs issued, 20 of them went to the Express Entry candidates. The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Moreover, other provincial immigration programs are attached to the Express Entry System. The eligible candidates for the immigration programs are issued scores under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. The points are awarded on basic human capital factors such as age, language, work experience and language proficiency. The candidate’s CRC score is one of the major selection factors for the application of Permanent Residence. The candidates who have the highest CRS points are issued invited to apply for permanent residence. Those Express Entry candidates who received a provincial nomination from Manitoba had to declare a valid job seeker validation code and a valid Express Entry ID.
