Manitoba PNP: 272 invitations in the first draw of 2021

Manitoba has held the first PNP draw of this year. This draw was held on January 14, 2021, and as a result, 272 immigration candidates were invited to apply for provincial nomination.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has invited skilled workers and international graduates to apply in the following immigration streams:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • International Education Stream
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

The number of Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), along with the minimum EOI scores have been listed down:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 236 LAAs, and a score of 461
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: 7 LAAs, and a score of 722
  • International Education Stream: 29 LAAs, no EOI score

Out of the total 272 LAAs issued, 18 of them went to the Express Entry candidates.

The MPNP will refuse the applications of those candidates who do not a valid Express Entry ID, job seeker code, and a verified work experience in Manitoba’s demanded occupations list.

In this draw, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) only considered the candidates from the Skilled Worker Overseas category.

For those candidates who scored higher than the minimum ranking, their rejection causes can be due to:

  • their language test didn’t have a substantial test number
  • their language test is not, at this point legitimate
  • the applicant was welcomed under an essential enrollment activity; however, they didn’t send a substantial greeting number.

Manitoba’s immigration streams

To facilitate the employers in Manitoba, the Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker streams allow the province to nominate the skilled workers, so they can support and fill the labour shortages in Manitoba.

The overseas applicants are required to establish a connection in the province. The close connections can be demonstrated through family ties, friends, prior work in the province, or by an invitation from MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. To be eligible, the candidates are not required to be physically present in the province. The successful candidates in the Skilled Workers category are required to have a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Manitoba. Whereas, the International students that have been graduated from an educational institute in Manitoba, might get a Letter of Advice to Apply under the International Education Stream.

Express Entry

Out of the total 272 LAAs issued, 18 of them went to the Express Entry candidates. The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Moreover, other provincial immigration programs are attached to the Express Entry System. The eligible candidates for the immigration programs are issued scores under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. The points are awarded on basic human capital factors such as age, language, work experience and language proficiency. The candidate’s CRC score is one of the major selection factors for the application of Permanent Residence. The candidates who have the highest CRS points are issued invited to apply for permanent residence. Those Express Entry candidates who received a provincial nomination from Manitoba had to declare a valid job seeker validation code and a valid Express Entry ID.
