The recent draw held on September 29, in British Columbia is termed as the largest immigration draw of this year by the province. In this draw, British Columbia has issued 450 permanent residence invitations to the candidates. The province has issued around 450 new invitations to apply for the provincial nomination under British Columbia.
This draw of September 29th was termed as the biggest draw due to its larger number of invitations then the previous draw. In the previous provincial draw of British Columbia which was held on September 1st, it issued 430 invitations, whereas the recent draw issued 450 invitations, that is why, this draw is being called as the larger draw, than the previous one.
In this Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, the invitations went to the candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories. These categories are in the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams.
Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC):
This category is for those candidates who have submitted their profiles in the federal Express Entry system. This Express Entry system is termed as the primary pathway for the skilled workers who are aspiring to get Canadian permanent residence.
Skills Immigration (SI) British Columbia:
The immigrants who have their occupations in demand in the province and the province wants to fill the labour shortage by inviting the skilled and semi-skilled workers.
Minimum Scores for the categories:
The minimum scores for these categories varied between 75 and 94 points. The least scores for the various categories were:
- Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker: 93
- Skills Immigration – International Graduate: 94
- Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 75
- Express Entry BC – Skilled Worker: 93
- Express Entry BC – International Graduate: 94
Express Entry:
The candidates were required to register in the federal Express Entry system and British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Express Entry System is the application system, that is responsible for handling the immigrant applications for the three main economic streams of Canada. The economic streams under the Express Entry system are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for Canadian PR. They are invited through the regular draws. The invitation round usually takes every two weeks. The candidates who receive a provincial nomination, they receive additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The additional 600 points guarantee their ITA and their chances to get a permanent residence.
On the other hand, the Skills Immigration candidates are required to register with Skills Immigration Registration System.
British Columbia PNP draws:
British Columbia has held seven draws through the various PNP categories and immigration streams. As a result of these draws, around 1,430 candidates were invited to apply for the British Columbia provincial nomination. The applicants who got an ITA from the province are required to submit their complete application via the British Columbia PNP online registration system within 30 days. To get the nomination in the BC PNP, the candidates are required to have an intermediate, full-time job offer from a valid employer in the province.
