In 2019, the international students have contributed $21 billion towards the Canadian economy. Therefore, international students hold a very important position in Canada as well as in its economy.
Canada has announced changes in its policy for Post-Graduate Work Permit.
The changes state that the international students who have studied online their whole postsecondary programs will be now eligible for the three-year work permit as soon they graduate.
The purpose of the Canadian government is to make easier policies for international students so that they can be eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Before this, the online learning duration was not counted towards the PGWP application, but now the situation has been changed.
After Canada announced the renewal duration of PGWP that it can be renewed for up to 18 months. Soon after this announcement, the online PGWP policy was announced.
This new policy will be applicable for those international students who have been admitted in a PGWP eligible program, and their terms have begun between spring 2020 and fall 2021. Moreover, this is also applicable for those students whose programs were in progress in March 2020.
There are certain requirements set up by the government that are mandatory to meet to become eligible for PGWP.
Canadian immigration has endured a slowdown because of the pandemic. Administration interruptions and travel limitations make it hard for worldwide students to come to Canada. Right now, worldwide understudies can go to Canada if they are going to a DLI that has an endorsed COVID-19 status plan.
PGWP upholds lasting migration
The PGWP permits global graduates who learned at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) to work for any business anyplace in Canada for as long as three years.
