Express Entry: CRS score falls to 469

Canada will be soon surpassing the 100,000 figure of the ITAs that have been issued in the year 2020. The Express Entry cutoff score has fallen below 470. It has happened for the very first time in this year’s draw.

The candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 469 to get an invitation in the November 25 round. About 5000 invitations were distributed among the Express Entry candidates. This was the largest number of invitations that have been issued this year.

The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)

  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Moreover, other provincial immigration programs are attached to the Express Entry System. The eligible candidates for the immigration programs are issued scores under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. The points are awarded on basic human capital factors such as age, language, work experience and language proficiency. The candidate’s CRC score is one of the major selection factors for the application for Permanent Residence. The candidates who have the highest CRS points are issued invited to apply for permanent residence.

After this draw, the total number of ITAs issued this year has reached 97,350. This year has observed record-breaking results in the Express Entry draws. Whereas, in the previous Express Entry draw, 5,000 ITA’s were issued.

It is also anticipated that Canada will issue increase the numbers of ITA’s in the coming years, as the country has planned to invite over 400,000 immigrants in the coming year of 2021.

When there is a tie between the applicants, the IRCC uses the tie-breaking rule. In the following draw, those candidates having a CRS score of 469 or above, were required to submit an Express Entry profile before October 15, 2020, at 08:50:10 UTC. In this year, the CRS score requirement has increased above the 470 points for the various programs. The Federal Skilled Trades program invited the trade workers with a CRS score of 415, and previously Canadian Experience Class’s draw was plunged into the 440s. The PNP draws have the higher CRS score requirements, those Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination, are awarded 600 additional CRS points.
