The recent draw for the Federal Skilled Trades class was held in Canada. This was the 7th Federal Skilled Trades Program since the express entry was launched in 2015. The second express entry draw was held in two days.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is for skilled foreign workers. Similarly, Pakistan has an increasing ratio of technically trained workers. Commonly in Pakistan, the validated diploma for the trained workers is Diploma in Associate Engineering (DAE). The diploma is offered in all the engineering fields i.e. DAE in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related fields.
There is a great opportunity for skilled workers from Pakistan to avail of this opportunity. 250 of the total candidates of the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) received an invitation to apply (ITA) for the permanent residence. The Pakistani students with the DAE’s can also apply for this immigration program, and they can become permanent residents of Canada.
Similarly, after the application process, the successful candidates for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of a minimum of 415 points to receive an invitation to apply.
The Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a draw for all programs in which it was seen that 3,900 ITA’s were issued to the successful candidates. In the previous two days of the draw, Canada issued 4,510 ITA’s to the selected candidates, which is quite a great number. This year has observed the record-breaking results in the Express Entry amidst the pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Considering the Issued ITA’s issued in 2020, 61,850 ITA’s have already been issued since the start of this year, which is the highest number of ITA’s since the launch of the Express Entry.
This draw was the 7th FSTP draw since 2015. This marks the seventh Federal Skilled Trades program draw in the history of Express Entry. The skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade program can become the permanent residents in Canada, therefore the FSTP is a gateway to the PR.
The basic purpose to launch the FSTP was to fulfil and to address the worker shortages in the skilled.

The IRCC holds rare and specific draws for the FSTP to fulfill the labour shortage in Canada, and to support the labour demands of Canada.
What is the Express Entry?
The federal government holds the Express Entry system to manage the applications for the permanent residence that also includes the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The candidates are allocated a CRC score that is based on the selection factors that are age, education, qualification, work experience, and proficiency in English or French. The candidates with the highest scores in the draw are invited and can apply for the PR.
The Pakistani students that hold their experience in the fields that are described above, they can apply for the FSTP. They have a chance to earn more in Canada, and they can get a suitable job. The increasing trend in the FSTP hints out the opportunities for technical workers from all over the world, and especially Pakistan.
