Canada has held the latest Express Entry draw, and after this draw, the number of ITA’s have been reached 87,350 this year. This Express Entry draw was held on November 5, 2020.
A total of 4,500 of the invitations were issued to the candidates enrolled in the Express Entry class. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for these applicants was 478 points. Moreover, The Francophone candidates are also eligible to be awarded additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points in the following draw. As, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have announced that the French-speaking applicants will get 25 additional points. The surplus points will be related to their language skills, and the bilingual applicants will get 50 points.
Usually, the Express Entry draw is held after every two weeks, whereas, this draw was delayed to make the changes in the CRS points and in the profiles of the French-Speaking candidates. This is the third time when Canada has issued around 4,500 invitations in the same draw. As this a greater number of invitations to be issued in a single draw.
At the end of October, the Canadian government has announced the immigration level plan for the coming years. The government has stated that 400,000 new permanent residents will be welcomed into the country by 2023. Whereas, 100,000 applicants will be housed under the Express Entry programs.
The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Moreover, other provincial immigration programs are attached to the Express Entry System. The eligible candidates for the immigration programs are issued scores under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. The points are awarded on basic human capital factors such as age, language, work experience and language proficiency. The candidate’s CRC score is one of the major selection factors for the application for Permanent Residence.
The candidates with the highest scores in the draw are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in an Express Entry invitation round.
Tie-break rule:
When there is a tie between candidates, the IRCC follows the tie-breaking rule. In this draw, the candidates who had a CRS score of 478 or more, and were required to submit their profiles before October 26, 2020, at 22:44:19 UTC in order to receive an invitation. After this draw, the total number of ITAs issued this year has now reached 87,350. This year will bring a new record for Canadian immigration because there has been a major increase in the number of the ITA’s that have been issued this year.
