On January 19, 2021, British Columbia has held a provincial nominee program, and it has invited 195 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The invitations were sent to the candidates from the following categories:
- Skills Immigration (SI)
- Express Entry BC (EEBC)
- Skilled Worker
- International Graduate
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
The minimum scores for the invitations varied between 80 and 106 points.
- The Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) is specifically for those candidates who possess a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry is Canada’s main pathway for permanent residence.
- The Skills Immigration is for the skilled and semi-skilled immigrants who have their occupations in demand in the province of British Columbia.
BC PNP categories are managed under British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
If you want to apply through the SIRS, then the eligible candidates are required to register an account. After registering an account, the candidates are assigned a score on various human capital characteristics like education, work experience, and language proficiency.
The candidates with the highest scores in the pool are invited to apply for provincial nomination under any new draw. The involved streams under the SIRS require the candidates to have a valid job offer from an employer in British Columbia.
This is a breakdown of the categories included in this draw and the minimum scores:
- Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker: 96
- Skills Immigration: International Graduate: 96
- Skills Immigration Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled: 80
- Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker: 106
- Express Entry BC: International Graduate: 103
Due to coronavirus, it has caused various damages to the economic sectors and the businesses in the province. Due to this reason, some of the occupations in demand were excluded from these draws.
The candidates who are invited under the Express Entry British Columbia, Skilled Worker, International Graduate categories, can obtain an additional 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and an Invitation to Apply (ITA), from the federal Express Entry, if they are successful.
The candidates who are successful in obtaining a nomination under these two streams will receive an additional 600 CRS points. These points will ensure an ITA for Canadian permanent residence. The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you want to get a nomination from these two streams, then you will have to create an Express Entry profile.
