British Columbia invites new immigrants in Tech Pilot draw

In a recent draw held in British Columbia, the province has invited 74 new immigration candidates. The immigrants invited are under the latest Tech Pilot draw. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program has invited the candidates from the following categories:

  • Express Entry BC
  • Skills Immigration

The Tech Pilot has summoned 74 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. On September 22, in this draw, the applicants were called to apply for permanent residence. The nominated applicants from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories required a provincial score of 80.

British Columbia’s PNP Tech Pilot is a fast immigration pathway for skilled workers and international students. This tack targets the in-demand occupations in the province. The Tech Pilot was launched in 2017, and due to its success, this program has been extended many times, and most recently it has been expanded until June 2021.

To get selected for this program, the candidates are required to register in the British Columbia’s provincial immigration streams. The candidates are also required to have a valid job offer of 12 months in the specified occupations of the province.

To apply for these immigration streams of British Columbia, the candidates have to create a profile in British Columbia’s PNP online portal and they have to register through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The applicants are given scores based on their age, education, work experience and language proficiency.

The Express Entry candidates who obtain BC’s provincial nomination, they receive an additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The federal Express Entry draws are held twice in a month, and on average 4,000 immigrants are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

A recent Express Entry draw was held on September 16, and in that draw, 4,200 invitations were issued to the candidates to apply for permanent residence. In September, British Columbia has held 6 draws through the various provincial immigration streams, and around 1,000 candidates have been invited.
