BC PNP invites 76 candidates in tech draw

British Columbia has held the new draw, and as a result of it, the province has invited 76 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. This draw was held on November 17.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has distributed the invitations through the following streams:

  • Express Entry BC (EEBC)
  • Skills Immigration streams.

In the BC PNP Tech Pilot, the candidates were invited under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories. In order to receive a provincial nomination, the candidates must a valid job offer in the eligible tech occupation in the province. The required score for candidates was 80 in all categories.

British Columbia holds the PNP draws for the various streams on a weekly basis. If you want to apply for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories, then you must create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal, and you also have to register under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The candidates are assessed on their skills and human capital characteristics. Along with this assessment, the applicants are also issued scores concerning the following factors: Education, language proficiency, work experience, and the location of employment.

After the approval of the applicants, the candidates can utilize their provincial nomination to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the PNP.

The Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from British Columbia, receive an additional 600 points towards their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Those candidates are guaranteed to receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA) in a future federal Express Entry draw.

British Columbia invited the Tech Pilot every week. The BC PNP Tech Pilot is an immigration program for IT workers and international students, who have their occupations in demand. It operates through B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams. To be considered for the Tech Pilot, the candidates must have a valid job offer from the designated occupations. The eligible occupations include computer managers, information systems managers, civil engineers, web designers and developers, translators, video recording technicians, and others.

The other immigration streams of British Columbia need a full-time permanent job offer requirement, whereas the Tech Pilot job offers can have a minimum duration of one year. Those candidates who are invited to apply for a provincial nomination can submit their application within 30 days
