If you want to apply for the work permit, then the work permit applications for Atlantic Immigration Pilot can be submitted online.

The immigration department of Canada has launched a new initiative that the applications for a work permit under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) can be submitted online.

From today, IRCC will be accepting online applications for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program. Whereas, the paper applications will be accepted until September 1, 2020.

The AIP program offers permanent residence for the foreign nationals in the four Atlantic provinces of Canada. The four Atlantic provinces of Canada are: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. To be applicable for this permit, the candidates need to obtain a work permit to be eligible to work legally in Canada. To get a work permit, the candidates must need:

  • A valid job placement letter from an employer from any of the Atlantic province
  • A referral letter from the province
  • An assurance to apply for PR within 90 days of the work permit application

After meeting these requirements, the candidates are eligible to work for 1 year. The foreign nationals have to submit their application for a work permit online. The candidates are not allowed to apply at the port. As they apply for a temporary work permit, they can apply for PR within 90 days.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot has two programs for foreign workers, and one program for International Graduate students. These programs are:

  • Atlantic High Skilled Program
  • Atlantic Intermediate Skilled Program
  • Atlantic International Graduate Program

The skilled workers must possess one year of relevant work experience in the field that they are applying to work. The candidates need CLB level 4 in all portions, Whereas the test scores cannot be more than 2 years old.

The AIP was created in 2017 and planned to admit over 7,000 immigrants under this program. This pilot has proved to be successful after its launch.
