Amidst the Covid-19, flexibility introduced in Education and Work Sectors

New policies and measures have been ensured and have been implemented for those individuals who have been enrolled in Canadian study or they have been engaged in work opportunities in the country.

The announcement by Canada:

Recently, Canada has announced three major steps for those individuals who want to work or study in Canada.

News Release:

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada have introduced some new measures on the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The measures have been regarding eligibility for international students who want to continue the Canadian study online due to Coronavirus.

  1. Online Study:

The international students can now study online from overseas until April 30, 2021. Whereas no time will be deducted from their Post-Graduation Work Permit, as they can complete their 50% of their studies.

  1. Completing an online study overseas:

Those students who have signed up for the program that is in 8-12 months in duration that is starting from May 2020 to Sep 2020, those students will be eligible to complete their entire program online. They will still be eligible for Post-Graduate Work Permit.

If you are from Pakistan, this is a golden opportunity to obtain Canadian study, as you will be able to complete your entire diploma from Pakistan. By this, you can have a degree from a Canadian institution, just by taking online classes from Pakistan, afterwards you can go to Canada and obtain PGWP.

  1. Online Degree Completion

The international students who are enrolled in Canadian universities from a starting date between May 2020 and September 2020 and the students who also graduated from the eligible programs can combine their length of this study when they apply for PGWP. Whereas, 50% of studies should be completed in Canada.

Post-Graduate Work Permit:

The Post-Graduate Work Permit is the most desirable program among those individuals who want to study in Canada. After the students complete their degree/courses from a designated institution from Canada, they are allowed to obtain Post-Graduate Work Permit for a duration of three years. The length of the Post-Graduate can be varied according to the duration of study at the Canadian Institute. This permit allows international students to work in Canada. In this duration, they can work for a Canadian employer where they can gain experience, by gaining this experience the students can also apply for immigration programs.

By gaining Canadian work experience, the candidates can apply for various immigration pathways such as the Canadian Experience Class.

Policies after Covid-19: Due to the coronavirus, there were many travel restrictions across the world, and the international students were not able to enter Canada. But now, due to the new policies, the international students are allowed to enroll in Canadian institutes and study their courses overseas.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this new policy, the students must submit a study permit application before the start of their course, in spring/fall/summer or semesters in 2021. They must have an approved study permit. IRCC has also indicated that the travel restrictions will be eased eventually.

News for Pakistani Students:

After this policy, the Pakistani students can now apply for study in Canada. By remaining in Pakistan, these students can continue their course at Canadian University, and after completing this course they can go to Canada, and be eligible for Post-Graduate Work Permit. This chance can provide these students with an opportunity to be the Canadian national in the shortest route.
